Drivers:
Provided with a CB radio in the truck to be alerted of upcoming situations a Bearcat 880 unless they have an alternative.
A truckers GPS only no phone apps, if a new driver doesn't have one they may borrow one to be replaced in their 1st 90 days, and returned to manager.
Safety apparel: a safety vest with our name on it so you know who they are. A helmet as some shippers require PPE for a safe work environment.
Required to have appropriate footwear ie boots, work shoes, or harder soled sneakers. No Flip flops, crocs, or sandals please advise management if they are to be counseled on proper work attire. They are unsanitary and unsafe.
A work T-shirt with our logo once sizes are known, a hoody for colder weather with logo.
Pants, cargo pants, cargo shorts, or sweatpants. No pajamas please advise if they are wearing them. We strive to arrive as professionals in appropriate comfortable work clothes.
Operating a semi tractor in a safe manner, legally per FMCSA Regulations, within 5mph of max speed limits posted ( a truck can speed up on a downhill slope) giving appropriate spacing in traffic. Safe following distance, no tailgating. We can't watch 24/7 please advise if a driver is tailgating, excessively speeding, swerving, or veering off the road (seems distracted, or tired?). We will have forward and side cameras, no inward facing cameras, they are intrusive, and trucking is not easy as it is. Management will assess and correct as much as is possible to maintain safe operations. Any calls please do your best to catch a time, location, if possible, a truck or trailer number that is clearly marked. Describe the situation your calling about or email subject safety concern.
Management will provide the driver with the above safe legal condition equipment, or better prior to bad weather seasons, PPE gear to be used as required, advise where needed, train even experienced drivers prior to inclement weather, a FMCSA Regulations manual, ELD, training and instructions that would assist on time safe deliveries. We will provide a industry standard income fairly at agreed on rates and on time to not cause undue stress on drivers. We will be available as needed, and can review any of the driver's concerns correcting them as quickly as possible. They are the backbone of operations and will be treated with the respect they deserve.
